in solidarity with love,

Our communities are full of resilient people with disabilities. People who are deserving of support, resources, and justice for basic human needs and overall quality of life. We celebrate, support, and honor those who are disabled in our community every day. We acknowledge and condemn the barriers that our disabled community faces, including stigma, bias, and oppression that are associated with ableism.

As we continue to uplift and prioritize the accessibility of our programming, resources, and events, we urge our community to join us as we reflect on the importance of intersectionality and honoring the commonalities we all have. We understand that we must be intentional about expecting and supporting a difference in identities and experiences within our disabled community. We must stay steadfast in our efforts to unlearn harmful ableist mindsets and frameworks to provide access needs to all of our communities.

As an organization, we commit to continually improving how we can be more accessible for our Pasifika community. We encourage our members and team to center the voices and experiences of our disabled community, including those of the intellectual and developmental disabled community, as you share space and advocate for your loved ones.

We intend and hope to learn and unlearn daily to make sure we are providing for all of our QTPIs and Allies.

Love, UTOPIA PDX.
