THIS PACIFIC ISLANDER HERITAGE MONTH…
We express joy and admiration for our Pasifika people, community, and culture. This month Pacific Islander folks around the world get to celebrate and partake in the teachings of our ancestors. We commemorate the lifelong enrichment of our ancestors' traditions that have been and will continue to be passed down to each generation.
In May, we spend our energy and time honoring the sacrifices our Pasifika people make daily on behalf of their loved ones and the care they have for them. It is not unknown that our culture is one of unification, devotion, and respect.
Even though we spend May taking pride in our heritage, UTOPIA Portland is devoted to moving forward each month with our culture and community at the center of our goals. We proudly live on the bones of our ancestors who continue to nurture us through our journey discovering the beauties and lessons of our cultural roots from the past, present, and future.
