Every day and every month we celebrate the pride we have for the unique identities that reflect who we are as people. Existing and celebrating the roles we play in our culture and our community disrupts the notion that queer & trans peoples are not worthy of recognition, resources, and respect.
Pride month is a time for us to commemorate the courageous leaders whose relentless dedication and fierce advocacy developed spaces for our needs to be heard. Our collective experience was shaped by the fervent activists at the forefront of the fight for the adoration of queer and trans bodies. Because of the unwavering devotion of Black Transwomen like Marsha P. Johnson – who endured countless moments of adversity – we are afforded the rights we have today.
This month UTOPIA Portland will lead with intention as we tribute our celebrations to the diverse identities within our communities. We vow to uplift and amplify our Queer & Trans Pacific Islanders in their journey to acceptance and healing. Our organization dedicates this pride month to fostering an unwavering commitment to the growth of our queer and trans communities.
